Description:
Ideally located apartment at 5 car minutes from the nearest beach in the province of Lecce in sunny Apulia (the south-Italian Puglia). Lecce is located in the heel of the Italian Boot and is the most southern province of Apulia. The apartment (ground floor, front location) is part of a detached house, with two holiday apartments in total. Every apartment has an outside sitting area. The house looks out on the sea, the harbour, the lighthouse and the village Santa Maria di Leuca.
The lighthouse is within walking distance with a great view and the Basilica di Santa Maria di Leuca is also worth a visit. Leuca is originally a fishing village, but now also has a large yachting harbour and a pleasant boulevard. You can walk, swim and snorkel in the azure blue sea. There are various rock- and sandy beaches. The many caves can be visited too. The apartment is located in the region Salento, a rocky region with olive trees, cacti, oleander and is famous for its olive oil, wine, the traditional dance "la taranta" and of course the delicious food ! It has a 300 year old history with invasions by the Greeks and the Turks, whose influence can still be found in many villages. A visit to the Baroque city Lecce (65 km), and the large places Otranto (45 km, on the east coast) and Gallipoli (38 km, west coast) is definitely worth it.
