Nestled between the local mountain Aineck and the Grainwald, St. Margarethen is an ideal starting point for numerous activities in Salzburg's Lungau in summer. In Salzburg's Lungau there are around 60 mountain lakes such as the Prebersee or the Schlierersee, the Lungau/Katschberg golf club is in the immediate vicinity of the city center and for swimming fun there is the St. Margarethen swimming pond, the swimming pool in St. Michael or the bathing island in Tamsweg. In Sankt Margarethen im Lungau, the Skischaukel Katschberg-Aineck ski area is particularly available to you. This ski area offers 70 kilometers of slopes and 16 lifts. Skiers and snowboarders can look forward to 3 additional ski areas in Salzburg's Lungau: the Grosseck-Speiereck, Fanningberg and Obertauern ski areas with a total of over 200 kilometers of slopes. There are numerous shops in town for everyday needs as well as a good selection of restaurants. By car you can reach the state capital Salzburg in about 1.5 hours.
