Description
In the midst of all the creeks you will find this beautifully furnished country house. Ideal for holidays with the family and children less than four.
The surroundings offer beautiful walking and cycling routes, among others in Het Zwin nature park. The landscape in Sint Laureins is characterised by vast polders, dikes, quiet creeks and rustling poplars along the canals. The unique creek area was created by numerous floods. There are many picturesque villages in the area and the beaches, for example in Cadzand and Knokke, are just a stone's throw away. Don't forget to visit the historic city of Bruges. For a relaxing day, you can visit Spa Leeghof and you can have a nice dinner at Restaurant Warande or Restaurant Polderzicht.
On cold days, you can enjoy dinner by the fireplace. In the cosy lounge you can read a good book and on warm summer evenings you can enjoy the sounds of nature in the garden, with a Belgian beer of course.

De Zonnebrug is a luxury holiday accommodation that can accommodate 2-6 people. This charm accommodation is a Dykefarm, rural and quiet but very stylishly furnished and comfortably equipped with eye for detail. You can enjoy peace and relaxation, cycling, hiking and enjoy the nature and the vast rural area of the creek area.De Zonnebrug is located on the Beoostereedepolderdijk which dates back to the 16th century and was built as a protection of the country against the emerging tides of the North Sea. The dikes are characterized and demarcating poplar grove. A few miles away along the canal is the church of St. -in-Eremo.Sluis, Oostburg, Aardenburg, Boekhoute and Waterlandkerkje are nearby and are more than worth a visit. You can also make the crossing with the ferry from Breskens to Vlissingen on the Westerschelde to visit Middelburg and the Veerse Meer.The Zonnebrug is located near Zeeland, in a region of channels and creeks. The gastronomy is typical of the region (the Sentse eel) and the peace and quiet of the creeks and the nature reserve there around.Our house is located in the middle of the creek area, unique in Belgium and The Netherlands. Sometimes the white boundaries are the only witnesses of the borders. The dikes have for centuries protected the people and the animals against the rising waters of the sea.During World War II were in no time 1000 of acres back under water. The Leopoldskanaal (dug around 1850) was the front line between the neutral Netherlands and the German occupiers of Belgium. The many bunkers in the countryside and the military cemeteries in the region, of which the famous Canada Museum in Adegem, are the only left witnesses. The cyclist or walker will - especially at the level of the many bridges over the channel - the memorials for local fallen of the first and second world war.Gastronomy and cultureTucked away in the countryside you can dine well and of high quality. Our career development has taken a different turn, and yet ...The emergence of the internet offers a vast view of the world. Many hours are we have been trying to find a suitable location for a second stay with the possibility to receive tourists. We looked forward to a location in Southern France. During our holidays in la Douce France we invariably passed along immo-offices to a nice location to find. It never came to concrete plans. Still there was something that prevented us to decide.Previously by accident, we discovered two years ago a dykefarm in St-Jan -in-Eremo situated in a beautiful location. We are both very intrigued by the nature, and above all the silence, the peace and quiet and the views in the polders and along the Leopoldskanaal, ...The next stage in the story was making plans on how we would grow and set up. At least a hundred plans were entrusted to the paper. Until we found the perfect match with an architect. A few weeks later we had an appointment to listen to her ideas. The sketches were clear, yes it was what we wanted.Meanwhile our dream came true. During the two following years we worked on the realization of our tourist accommodation. We are convinced that our domain, which is very nice and an idyllic location, is very suitable for shorter or longer stays. Enjoy the silence !

Date of stay: January 2022Prachtig en rustig gelegen vakantiewoning aan wandel- en fietsknooppunten om het krekengebied te verkennen.Wij waren hier in de winter en het huis was lekker warm.Documentatie van de streek overvloedig aanwezig.De keuken was uitstekend uitgerust.Parking voor 3 wagens langs het kanaal. 2 slaapkamers voorzien van horren. De derde slaapkamer heeft een groot raam met een weids uitzicht over het kanaal en de velden maar helaas geen vliegenraam. Voor ons een topvakantiewoning en aanrader.

Sehr ruhige Lage direkt am Kanal mit Anschluss an Fahrrad- und Wanderwege, ideal für Fahrradtouren. Gent, Brügge, Sluis und die Küste in ca. 30 km Umkreis. Angenehme, freundliche Vermieter.

Date of stay: October 2017De ontvangst was prima, te meer omdat er door omstandigheden een mogelijkheid was een uurtje eerder de woning te betrekken. Eigenares is zeer zuinig op haar interieur en dat is logisch met zoveel prachtige materialen. De accommodatie was geweldig. Een huis dat zit als een lekkere jas om je heen. Heerlijk genoten van alle luxe en ruimte in deze heel sfeervol ingerichte boerderijwoning. Door het slechte weer hebben we de directe omgeving niet echt kunnen bekijken. Ongetwijfeld is het hier prachtig als het weer wat meer toelaat. Zeker rondom de kreken die daar op steenworpafstand van verwijderd zijn. We komen nog eens terug om te fietsen in de streek. Dagje Brugge en Gent of Sluis is prima te doen. Culinair is de streek goed vertegenwoordigd. De Roste Muis op 2,5 km serveert heerlijke paling uit de streek. Kortom voor ons een dikke tien!

Prachtig uitzicht over de bomenlaan langs het kanaal en de wegen om het huis heen en de weilanden en tuin. Gelegen in een mooie omgeving met veel mogelijkheden voor sportieve en culturele activiteiten. Brugge, Gent en het strand binnen een half uur te bereiken. Ook leuke kleine stadjes zoals Damme en Sluis op korte afstand. Goede eetgelegenheden op korte afstand. Zeer vriendelijke eigenaren die ons hartelijk hebben ontvangen en afscheid hebben genomen. Een plek om nog een keer terug te komen!

Date of stay: December 2015 - January 2016Wir hatten nach der Beschreibung ein sehr schönes Haus erwartet. Die Realität hat diese Erwartungen bei Weitem übertroffen! Das Haus gestaltet sich großzügig, ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und bietet viele Ruhe- und Rückzugsmöglichkeiten. Die große, zentral gelegene Küche lädt Hobbyköchinnen und -köche zum gemeinsamen Wirken ein. Schlafräume und jeweils angrenzende Bäder zeigen sich als Ruhe- und Wohlfühloasen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch der freundliche, unaufdringliche und kompetente Service der Vermieter, die stets mit Rat und Tat zur Seite stehen - falls gewünscht. Die Nähe der belgischen und holländischen Küstenorte überzeugt ebenso wie die kulturellen Möglichkeiten der Städte Brügge und Gent zu Ausflügen einladen. Wir empfehlen das Haus unbedingt weiter und werden sicherlich auch selbst sehr gern zurückkehren.

Date of stay: November 2015Die eine Woche, die wir im November dort waren, entsprach genau dem, was wir uns gewünscht haben - Kaminfeuer - gemütlich in einer großen und gut ausgestattenen Küche kochen (Induktionsherd, 2 Backöfen) - Spaziergänge in ruhiger Umgebung - Fahrradtouren in der schönen Landschaft - Tagesausflüge nach Brügge und Gent (30 min. Autofahrt) und zur Küste etc. Die Vermieter waren sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und erhielten viele Tipps und Informationen zur Umgebung und möglichen Aktivitäten. Das Haus ist sehr schön und hochwertig eingerichtet. Es entsprach genau den Bildern auf der Internetseite. Toll waren die drei Badezimmer zu den jeweiligen Schlafzimmern und in der Küche hat es sehr viel Spaß gemacht, zu kochen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, würden gerne auch wiederkommen und können das guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen!

Die ruhige Lage beeindruckt und die Nähe von Brügge und Gent sind ideal. Die niederländische Küste ist nicht weit entfernt, wir konnten tolle Fahrradtouren direkt vom Haus aus machen. Gern kommen wir wieder.

Everything is finished to a really high standard and it felt as though we were staying in a luxury hotel suite. The bedroom view and bathtub were a highlight. The house is in a lovely area of countryside and the house has it's own cats and sheep which our daughter loved spotting every morning. The owner was incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming and very willing to ensure we had a great holiday. The location was brilliant for day trips to Brugges and Ghent as well as popping over the border to Sluis. All in all a great property that we would recommend to anyone and happily visit again.
