L’ISOLA SUPERIORE DEI PESCATORI - It owes its name to the activity of its inhabitants and certainly has the most character dor all the Borromeo islands on Lake Maggiore. It is approximately 300 meters of land in the middle of the lake, spectacularly framed by the Alps. The fascination of this island lies in the traditional simplicity and rustic candour of its houses. In the narrow alleys you will find restaurants, providing local fish from the lake, bars kiosks and small shops. The Island is connect to Stresa (3 stops) and Baveno (1 stop) by a regular public boat service available until h. 7.00 pm (www.navlaghi.it) or water-taxi. Upon prior request, the kind owner will also organise transfers to and from the island by motor boat. Mottarone is equipped for winter sports. The villages surrounding offer traditional and cultural events as well as musical festival well advertised by the local tourist office. How to get there: From Milan - Highway A8 Milano -Laghi, then A26 direction Gravellona Toce - Exit Baveno/Stresa From Switzerland. S.S. 33 (Brig/Simplon Pass/Domodossola) exit Baveno/Stresa or S.S.32 (Bellinzona/Locarno/Baveno) Park in Baveno, in one of the public parking area. To get to the island you have two different options: By public boat of the Navigazione Lago Maggiore your destination is Isola Superiore dei Pescatori (time table available on the internet approx from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm) or by private taxi boat. The owners of the apartment can give you the telephone number of a shipman. With them you can fix time and place for the pick-up to take you directly in front of the apartment.

Date of stay: August 2018Het eiland is in werkelijkheid even mooi en romantisch als op de foto's. Het appartement was eenvoudig, maar schoon en voorzien van alle eerste benodigdheden beetje koffie, olijfolie, suiker etc. En het balkon is geweldig een prachtig utzicht over het meer!

Very very cozy to sit on the balcony watching boats and people in general. Make sure to do your groceries before taking the boat. It is only possible to buy very little at the island.

Date of stay: June 2018Supermooie plek. Wel een toeristisch eiland. Na de laatste veerboot werd het rustig.Het huisje was gezellig, authentiek en sfeervol. Marco, de eigenaar heeft ons verteld over de historie van het huis.Zijn grootvader heeft er nog gewoond. Er hangen veel oude foto’s in het trappenhuis. Lago Maggiore is prachtig.

Date of stay: June 2015Wat hebben wij genoten. Overdag met de boot weg naar allerlei bezienswaardigheden en savonds heerlijk rustig op ons balkon met een lekker glas wijn. Mooie uitstapjes naar de berg Motarone, lago majore expres. Wel een heel erg toeristisch gebied. Heel vriendelijk welkom door de gastvrouw. Heerlijke douche. En neem de holidaykaart voor de overtocht met de boot, want losse kaartjes zijn duur. En nu kun je de gehele week naar elk eiland en dorpje heen en weer varen. Kost 83 euro per persoon. Auto kun je gratis parkeren bij station in Baveno, of langs de boulevard van Baveno.

Our hosts were very helpful and friendly there was a book providing suggested days out. It was easy getting about, but slightly restricting as the last boat back was at 7pm. However this didn't curtail our enthusiasm. W would definitely love to return and highly recommend to others.

Date of stay: August 2014In dit kleine (maar voor twee personen ruim genoeg) appartement kun je de hele dag genieten van de in grote getalen aangevoerde toeristen. In de avond zijn ze vertrokken en is het eiland bijna voor jou alleen. Vanaf het eiland kun je met de boot naar alle bestemmingen. Het ernaast gelegen Isola Bella is een must. Parkeren gaat het best in Baveno.

Date of stay: July 2014Dit appartementje ligt op een fantastische plek aan het water. Zo leuk om al die bootjes af en aan te zien varen. Het balkon is een heerlijke plek. Alles is lekker kneuterig met gehaakte kleedjes e.d. Als de laatste veerboot geweest is kan je voor je deur vanaf de stenen pier zo het water inspringen! We komen hier zeker terug. tip parkeren bij halte CARCIANO is gratis. Vanaf de parkeerplaats doorrijden naar achteren. Dan hoef je geen rekening te houden hoe laat je de volgende dag weer bij je auto moet zijn.

Date of stay: August 2013tussen 10 en 18 is het kleine eilandje (die u in een uur wel hebt gezien) zeer toeristisch, na de laatste ferry heb je het eiland voor jezelf behalve wat bezoekers van de restaurantjes die via prive watertaxi zich verplaatsen maar het blijft er rustig. Een maandabonnement tussen baveno en het eiland is goedkoper dan elke dag een retourbiljet. Uw wagen parkeer je best in baveno, in stresa is het drukker en dien je nog verschillende haltes te wachten, het eiland is de eerste en laatste stop met de ferry vanuit baveno. Alle steden rond het meer zijn makkelijk met de wagen bereikbaar. Het appartement is compact maar alles is er wel aanwezig, goed proper en net, zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaar, ook de bewoners van het eiland zijn zeer vriendelijk en open. Een aanrader voor wie de regio wil bezoeken maar toch nog wat uit de drukte wil blijven. 's avonds zijn er altijd wel een paar restaurantjes open in gevarieerde prijsklasse, onderhandel wel op voorhand over de prijs indien u een prive watertaxi neemt of gebruik de vaste taxi die de eigenaar aanbeveelt (guillermo)

Date of stay: September 2011Een hele bijzondere eilandje midden op het Lago Maggiore. Mooi uitzicht vanaf het grote balkon over het meer. Nadeel is dat als je er op uit wilt trekken, steeds de veerboot moet nemen. Dat loopt aardig in de papieren. Ook is het parkeren van de auto op het vaste land een probleem.

Date of stay: May 2009Wij hebben eind mei een fantastische week gehad in dat mooie zalmkleurige huis, in het appartement op de tweede verdieping: echt helemaal geweldig. Het is een compact appartement, geschikt voor twee personen, met een leuke en frisse woonkamer, een eenvoudige maar wel zeer compleet ingerichte keuken, een goede badkamer, een fijne slaapkamer, en vooral: met een fantastisch, 10 meter lang balkon van 2 meter breed. Je zat op de zuidwest kant, met watergeklots om je heen, een voortdurend af en aan varen van boten, veel Italiaans geroezemoes, echt een heerlijk vakantiegevoel! Je kunt altijd wel uit eten op het eiland, er zijn veel restaurants. Maar zelf koken was ook heerlijk in de kleine maar hele complete keuken. We hebben echt een geweldige vakantie gehad en komen zeker terug! L&M

Wat erg tegenviel was de sluitingstijd van 17.00 u.van de restaurantjes.Een bar open tot 19.00u.Daarna alles uitgestorven.De boot-taxi was belachelijk duur.Niet doen!Liever even wachten opde grote boot.Helaas was het strand een grote puinhoop,kapotte tegels,dakpannen,glas en bouwpuin,ook in het water.Aan alle kanten van het eilandje.Geen kindvriendelijk eilandje.Hou je van mussen en zwaluwen, die eten uit je hand.De huiseigenaren zijn ontzettend aardig.Niets ten nadele van Eure Relais maar voor ons geen tweede keer naar dit eiland.
