Go look in the large kitchen garden where tomatoes, salads, pumpkins, zucchini, eggplant, onions, cucumbers and artichokes are grown. The vegetables you can buy at the agriturismo. Beautiful fresh, directly from the land. There is also extra virgin olive oil for sale from the agriturismo. Wine tasting: On request, the homeowner runs a mini-course wine tasting on the 5 most important wines from this region: • Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG • Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG • Chianti Classico DOCG • Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Ride A Bike: With or without a guide can make beautiful bike rides in the area. You can race bikes or mountain bikes. The homeowner has more information about. You'll see castles, monasteries, ancient churches and medieval villages. Cooking workshop: The owner organizes cooking workshops. There are 1 antipasto, two main courses and 1 desert prepared. Of course with a nice glass of Tuscan wine.

Podere il Molinello ligt in een wat minder toeristisch deel van Toscane, op 2 km van Serre de Rapalano en 5 km van Asciano. Verwacht hier geen groot aanbod van winkels en restaurants, maar alles wat je nodig hebt, is verkrijgbaar. Het interieur van ons appartement Gelso is gedateerd, maar het was allemaal netjes verzorgd en lekker ruim. Omdat het een oud gebouw is met dikke muren en kleine ramen, moet overdag snel het licht aan. Er zijn eventueel ook huisjes te huur, maar wij vinden de authentieke sfeer van het hoofdgebouw leuker. De temperatuur wisselde deze twee laatste weken van mei, van 12 tot 28 graden Celsius. Dus lekker om in de ochtend te fietsen en later op de dag even een duik in het zwembad te nemen. Medewerkster Carmen heeft via Chianti bikes prima fietsen met 27 versnellingen voor ons geregeld. Die heb je hier echt wel nodig, want er zitten soms flinke hoogteverschillen in de routes die je kunt rijden. Eigenaar Allesandro werkt ook als gids voor fietsreizen en heeft een hele werkplaats voor fietsen. In de omgeving spreken weinig mensen een andere taal dan Italiaans, maar eigenaresse Elisa, Alessandro en Carmen spreken Engels en Duits. Ze zijn zeker bereid om te helpen, maar niet al te enthousiast. De excursies die ze aanbieden gaan pas door als er voldoende animo is en dat was jammer genoeg zo vroeg in het seizoen nog niet het geval. Voor gezinnen met kleine kinderen zijn er drie glijbaantjes en een trampoline en er is genoeg ruimte om een balletje te trappen. Je doet hier langer over afstanden dan in ons vlakke Nederland, dus hoewel steden als Siena (22km) en Perugia (88km) vlakbij lijken, is dat wel iets om rekening mee te houden als je 's avonds ergens heen wilt. Wij hebben lekker gegeten bij restaurant Isqueta en in Trequanda is een goed restaurant dat helaas gesloten was toe wij er op dinsdag kwamen. Verder waren de restaurants niet echt bijzonder te noemen. Reserveren is meestal aan te bevelen. Op de hoek van het dorpspleintje in Asciano schenken ze goede koffie. Serre de Rapalano is een leuk klein oud dorpje om even doorheen te lopen. De abdij in Chiusure en het museum in Asciano zijn leuk om te bezoeken als je wat cultuur op wilt snuiven. Wij hebben het hier prima naar ons zin gehad.
