Description
Located in the foothills of the Ore Mountains between Meissen, Freiberg and Dresden, this one kilometre-long property which houses Villa Rotschönberg lies directly on the riverbank of the Freiberger Mulde and is surrounded by parks and a private forest. The manufacturer's villa recalls a long history: since 1830 it was part of a silver ore smelter, later the residence of a pulp and cardboard paper mill owner. In 1904 all the factory buildings were rebuilt in Art Nouveau style. In 1958 the cardboard factory burned down completely; only the villa could be saved. From 1990 to 2019, the artist TM Rotschönberg reconstructed the building and the entire property using the highest standards in order to make it available to guests. After all, such an attractive and at the same time secluded location is hard to find. From here you can visit Meissen, Dresden (a trip on the paddle steamer to Saxon Switzerland is an unforgettable experience), to the Freiberg Mining Museum or to Augustusburg Castle. The well-marked Mulde bike path from Holzau to Dessau goes right past the property; however, various bike trips of 30 to 60 km in length that start and end at the house can also be planned along field and forest trails. There are bicycles you can borrow. At the same time, hiking trails through a landscape shaped by silver mining, where you can marvel at the many industrial monuments in addition to the pristine natural surroundings, are perfect for the active tourist. But if you don't want to leave the 40,000 m² property at all, you don't have to, because the peaceful and quaint park as well as the river bank are as relaxing as bathing in the clear water of the Mulde is stimulating.
Guests can rent the entire 2nd floor plus the top floor of Villa Rotschönberg. The flat consists of two separate residential units. Here you can spend your holiday together as a large family or small group and still find rooms and areas that offer privacy. All the furniture was designed and made by the artist to match the elegance of this Art Nouveau villa.

Date of stay: June 2021 - July 2021Sehr schöne uns außergewöhnliche Ferienwohnung in absoluter Einsamkeit. Trotzdem aber so zentral gelegen, das wir Dresden, Leipzig, Meißen, Radebeul und sogar Prag gut erreichen konnten. In dem Flüsschen direkt am Haus konnte gebadet werden und die Eigentümer waren wirklich außerordentlich freundlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt!

Date of stay: October 2020Saubere und gut ausgestattete Unterkunft mit ganz besonderer Atmosphäre in sehr ruhiger Lage, die viel Platz auch für größere Familien bietet. Ideal, um Wanderungen in der Umgebung zu unternehmen. Nette und hilfsbereite Vermieter, mit denen man inspirierende Gespräche führen kann. Wir haben dort eine sehr erholsame Herbstwoche umgeben von wunderbar gefärbten Bäumen erlebt und kommen gerne wieder!

Date of stay: July 2020 - August 2020Die Wohnung ist hell und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Außenanlagen bieten viel Platz zum Relaxen. Im Fluß gebadet werden, Badeschuhe sind empfehlenswert. Das Haus liegt abgeschieden, es ist dort sehr ruhig.

Date of stay: July 2020The accommodation is beautifully surrounded by a small forest and the Freiberger Mulde, and is an ideal spot to start a hike, mountain bike ride or city trip. The house itself has been very well constructed by the owner, who as a professional artist has a keen eye for aesthetics and quality. From here you can easily reach multiple POI's such as Freiberg, Meissen, Dresden, Leipzig, Prague and of course the Sächsischen Schweiz. The owner, his wife and his son are very nice, warm and friendly people who will make every effort to make you feel welcome. We will return next year!
