Alicante, the Spanish port city on the Costa Blanca, lives mainly from tourism and wine and olive oil production. A culinary specialty of the city is Turrón (Catalan: Torró). It usually consists mainly of almonds, egg whites and honey, but turrÓn is now also available with nougat and nuts and in a few other variations. Incidentally, these delicacies are also a nice gift for those at home.
